Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Visionary Eye Clinic a proud provider of vision care products and services in Vienna.

Dr. Kayla Campbell

Dr. Kayla Campbell, the owner of Visionary Eye Clinic, is proud to return home to provide exceptional eye care to the Wood County and neighboring communities. A native of Rockport, WV, and a 2006 graduate of Parkersburg South High School, Dr. Campbell is deeply rooted in the Mid-Ohio Valley and is excited to serve the people she has always called neighbors. She earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Alderson Broaddus University. In 2014, she received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Indiana University School of Optometry.

Since graduation, Dr. Campbell has practiced in West Virginia, most recently spending the last nine years providing care in Barboursville. Known for her kind and compassionate approach, she offers comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages-including pediatric eye exams, diabetic eye care, and contact lens fittings, including specialty scleral lenses. She has a particular passion for treating ocular surface disease (commonly known as dry eye) and enjoys collaborating with providers across specialties such as primary care, endocrinology, neurology, dermatology, and oncology to deliver well-rounded, personalized care. Dr. Campbell also has a strong interest in treating urgent and emergent eye conditions.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Campbell is deeply committed to advancing the profession of optometry. She is a Past President of the West Virginia Association of Optometric Physicians and an active member of the American Optometric Association. She also volunteers with the Southern Council of Optometrists’ student program and serves as an associate professor  or both Indiana University School of Optometry and the Kentucky College of Optometry, where she mentors students in the clinical setting.

Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, including:

  • Golden Opportunity Award (2025) – A national honor celebrating leadership among
    new private practice owners
  • Past President Award (2024) – Recognizing outstanding leadership in West Virginia
    optometry
  • West Virginia Young Optometrist of the Year (2018)
  • Young Optometrist of the South (2019)
  • InfantSEE Award – For excellence in pediatric eye care
  • Feinbloom Award – For contributions to low vision care
  • Marchon Award – For outstanding clinical skills

Outside the clinic, Dr. Campbell enjoys camping, hiking, and exploring Wild and Wonderful
West Virginia with her husband, Nathan, and their two children, Dawsen and Nala.


Dr. Katie Palmer

Dr. Katie Palmer has been practicing as an Optometrist in Vienna, WV for the past 7 years. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree with high honors from Indiana University and attended Marshall University for her undergraduate degrees where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Passionate about preventative eye care and patient education, Dr. Palmer specializes in ocular disease, pediatrics, and comprehensive eye examinations. She stays at the forefront of optometric advancements through continuing education and active membership in the West Virginia Association of Optometric Physicians and the American Optometric Association. Outside of the office, Dr. Palmer enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, spoiling their cat, knitting, and trying new recipes in the kitchen. She takes pride in building lasting relationships with her patients
